Bourg is a quartier -  a quarter - which contributed to the economic success of Narbonne during the  Middle Ages.

The textile industry grew here starting in the 12th century: fullers, tanners, drapers, dyers and merchants used the water of the river Aude for their work.

At the core of Narbonne commerce at the time, this area of the town, on the right bank of the Aude, was home to many prosperous merchant's houses as well as housing for the workers. The other side of the river was home to nobility and the high clergy.

This visit is a rediscovery of a part of town essential to the history of the development of Narbonne. The story is told through the wonderful facades, courtyards and town houses built in the 15th and 16th centuries
